Project Update for N. Central Street

March 31, 2017 N. Central Street Update – This past week, KUB’s contractor Adams and Sons, Inc., completed water main installation on the section of N. Central Street just past Dameron Avenue. Crews also began work on the services to the newly installed main, and will complete tie-ins following the service work.

The existing traffic pattern remains in place, with both northbound lanes and the northbound bicycle lane closed continuously for the duration of work on this section of N. Central Street. Traffic flow is maintained in both directions, however, with one northbound and one southbound lane shifting to the southbound side of N. Central Street. Southbound bicycle traffic is instructed to merge with vehicle traffic through the work zone. All turn lanes remain open in the N. Central Street and N. Broadway intersection.

Next week, Adams and Sons, Inc., will continue work in the above-mentioned stretch of N. Central Street. Pending completion of testing procedures, crews will work the next several weeks on making service line connections, fire hydrant installations, and tie-ins to connect side street mains on this section of new water main. Existing traffic and erosion control measures will remain in place on this section through early April 2017.

Note that connecting side streets intersections in this area will remain open until work is required at those locations. Follow up notices will be issued ahead of any work requiring intersection closures in this work zone.

Vehicle traffic is advised to remain aware of the ongoing presence of workers, equipment, traffic channeling devices, barricades, and signs in this area.

Please see the current N. Central Street traffic map with the issue date of March 10, 2017 in the right-hand column of this blog for the current traffic control plan and more detailed information.
