Project Update for N. Central Street and W. Jackson Avenue

November 18, 2016 N. Central Street Update – This week, KUB’s contractor Adams and Sons, Inc., continued installation of new water main from White Lilly Flats north through the Magnolia Avenue intersection, and the intersection has been repaved and reopened to traffic.

Next week, work continues north of the intersection toward W. Fifth Avenue. Crews will also close the inside eastbound and westbound lanes on W. Fifth Avenue, between N. Gay Street and N. Central Street, daily from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. for construction prep work on this section of roadway. The outside eastbound and westbound lanes will remain open. Lane closures will remain in place as indicated on site, and in the traffic map located on the right hand side of this blog. Crews will be on site Monday through Wednesday, but will not work Thursday or Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The lane closure will remain in place for public safety.

(Old City) West Fifth Avenue Lane Closure [November 21-23] – KUB contract crews will close a short section of the inside, eastbound lane of West Fifth Avenue between North Central Street and North Gay Street, daily from 6 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday, November 21, through Wednesday, November 23,  as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. One eastbound and both westbound lanes will remain open during this time. All lanes on West Fifth Avenue will reopen outside of listed work hours, and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Please see attached N. November 18, 2016 W. Jackson Avenue Update – This week, KUB Underground Construction Crews installed approximately 160 feet of wastewater main. Water and natural gas main installation work was also completed as part of phase 1 of this project.

Next week, the newly installed gas main will be made active, and service tie-overs will be completed to the new natural gas infrastructure. The work zone and traffic control measures will also remain the same. Crews will be on site Monday through Wednesday, but will not work Thursday or Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The road closure will remain in place for public safety.
