Project Update for N. Central Street

February 24, 2017 N. Central Street/Fifth Avenue Update – This past week, KUB’s contractor Adams and Sons, Inc., completed water main installation through the N. Central Street intersection at N. Broadway. Portions of this work were performed at night to expedite the completion of intersection work and minimize the impacts to traffic flow. Paving and roadway restoration work were also completed on this section of N. Central Street.

Next week, Adams and Sons, Inc. will shift the work zone to the section of N. Central Street between N. Broadway and Pearl Place. Both northbound lanes and the northbound bicycle lane will be closed continuously for the duration of work on this section of N. Central Street. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions, however, with one northbound and one southbound lane shifting to the southbound side of N. Central Street. Southbound bicycle traffic will merge with vehicle traffic through the work zone. Construction in this work zone is expected to last through early April 2017.

Note that connecting side streets intersections in this area will remain open until work is required at those locations. Follow up notices will be issued ahead of any work requiring intersection closures in this work zone.

Vehicle traffic is advised to remain aware of the ongoing presence of workers, equipment, traffic channeling devices, barricades, and signs in this area.

Please see the current N. Central Street traffic map with the issue date of February 24, 2017 in the right-hand column of this blog for the current traffic control plan and more detailed information.
