Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project

April 5, 2019 UPDATE – Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation Phase 1 – Manhole rehabilitation crews continue to work at various locations throughout the Phase 1 area. Temporary lane closures may be needed in the immediate area where crews are working.

Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation Phase 2 – Paving and restoration crews completed work on the section of Kenesaw Avenue between Taliluna Avenue and Cherokee Boulevard, and along the section of Sequoyah Avenue between W. Nokomis Circle and Southgate Road. Concrete curb restoration will continue on Kenesaw Avenue between Woodland Drive and Iskagna Drive with intermittent daily lane closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. through the end of next week. Construction crews continue work on the section of Taliluna Avenue between Southgate Road and Lakeland Drive with daily road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., April 1-5. Access to driveways will be maintained. Alternate routes include Sequoyah Avenue and Cherokee Boulevard. Following completion of construction on Taliluna Avenue, crews will move one block north to the section of Sequoyah Avenue between Southgate Road and Lakeland Drive next week. Taliluna Avenue and Sequoyah Avenue will not be closed at the same time.

All planned wastewater system work on Cherokee Boulevard has been postponed until after the Dogwood Arts Garden & Trails events in April.

(Sequoyah Hills) Sequoyah Hills Area Road Closures [April 8-12] – KUB contract crews will implement the below indicated road closures, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., starting Monday, April 8, through Friday, April 12, as work continues on the wastewater collection system in the area:

  • Sequoyah Avenue between Lakeland Drive and Southgate Road – closed intermittently as needed.
  • Kenesaw Avenue between Woodland Drive and Iskagna Drive – closed intermittently as needed.
  • Taliluna Avenue between Lakeland Drive and Southgate Road – closed intermittently as needed.

Taliluna Avenue and Sequoyah Hills will not be closed at the same time. Access to area homes will be maintained, and barricades and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.  





Crews worked to connect customer laterals to the new wastewater main on Taliluna Avenue this past week.

Sequoyah Park – Morgan Construction is scheduled to begin work to rehabilitate the existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park starting next week in the western edge of the park. The park, all parking areas, and boat ramp will remain open during this work. Morgan Construction will maintain a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association. Informational banners will be placed in the park parking areas to provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work. Additionally, both KUB and the City of Knoxville will issue news releases and information on social media about work in the park. Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog site.



KUB and Morgan Construction have posted informational banners at entrances/parking areas throughout Sequoyah Park.
