Sequoyah
Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation Phase 2 – Construction crews will work on
Taliluna Avenue between Southgate Road and Wilani Road and on a short section
of East Nokomis Circle next week. These roads will be closed to through traffic
daily from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. to facilitate construction. Crews will also begin
construction in off-road easements near 1180 Keowee Avenue and near Agawela
Avenue (at Sequoyah Village Apartments) next week.. Paving and restoration
crews will work on Sequoyah Avenue. Concrete curb restoration is scheduled for
short sections on Kenesaw Avenue and West Nokomis Circle with intermittent
daily lane closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. through the end of next week.
Access to driveways will be maintained in all areas. Manhole rehabilitation and
closed-circuit television inspection crews will work throughout the Phase 2
area next week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when
crews are present. This work will not take place on designated Dogwood Arts
Trails.

Sequoyah
Park –
Morgan Construction and their subcontractors continue to rehabilitate the
existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park. See the attached map
showing work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and parking
areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction is also
maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and materials
storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville Parks and
Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association. Informational
banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to provide park
visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work. Updates on the
progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog
site.

Closures [April 22-26] – KUB contract crews will implement the below indicated road
closures, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.,
starting Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, as
work continues on the wastewater collection system project in the area:

Valencia Road between both ends of Alta Vista Way
·
W. Nokomis Circle between Iskagna Drive and E. Nokomis Circle
·
Sequoyah Avenue between Lakeland Drive and Southgate Road
·
Kenesaw Avenue between Woodland Drive and Iskagna Drive
Access to area homes will be maintained, and barricades
and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories
will be issued as necessary.
