Holston-Chilhowee Area Wastewater Project (Mini-basin 20A3)
January 24, 2020 – KUB’s contractor for this project, Morgan
Construction, is scheduled to begin mobilizing on sections of Silva Drive,
Parva Drive, Iroquois Drive, and Comanche Drive in the area north of Asheville
Highway the week of January 27. As a reminder, due to the location of some
wastewater pipes and manholes under area roadways, temporary lane and/or road
closures may be needed in the immediate area where crews are working for the
duration of this project. This project is scheduled for completion by December
2020. NOTE: The next blog update will be posted on Monday, February 3.
Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project
January 24, 2020 UPDATE – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week
with intermittent road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:

Taliluna Avenue between
South Garden Road and Lakeland Drive

Whitlow Avenue between
Bluff View Road and Cedarhill Road
Closed-circuit
Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next
week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are
present.
Manhole
Rehabilitation – Crews will work throughout the Phase 2 area next week. Temporary
lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are present.
Sequoyah
Park –
Break-down of bypass pumping equipment and piping is complete. Cleanup and
restoration of disturbed areas will continue as weather allows over the next
several weeks. See the attached map showing current work corridors within the
park. The park, all entrances and parking areas, and boat ramp remain open
during this work. Morgan Construction continues to maintain a fenced area in
the middle parking lot for equipment and materials storage. KUB has coordinated
work in the park with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation and the Kingston
Pike Sequoyah Hills Association. Informational banners have been placed in the
park entrances/parking areas to provide park visitors with details about the
wastewater rehabilitation work. Updates on the progress of work in the park
will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog site.
Natural
Gas System Work – Crews are scheduled to resume natural gas inspection and
maintenance work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills in February.
This work may require short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where
crews are working.

Old Kingston Pike Area Wastewater Project
January
24, 2020 – KUB’s
contractor for this project, Hurst Excavating, is scheduled to begin
mobilization and pre-construction activities in the area the week of January
27. As a reminder, due to the location of some wastewater pipes and manholes
under the roadway, temporary lane and/or road closures may be needed in the
immediate area where crews are working for the duration of this project. This
project is scheduled for completion by late April 2020. Final overall paving
and restoration will take place at the conclusion of the wastewater project. NOTE:
The next blog update will be posted on Monday, February 3.
Concord Street Wastewater Project
January 24, 2020 – KUB’s contractor, Morgan Construction, is
scheduled to begin mobilization the week of January 27. As a reminder, due to the
location of wastewater pipes and manholes under the roadway, lane shifts will
be needed in the immediate area where crews are working for the duration of
this project. This project is scheduled for completion by late March 2020.

South Knoxville Water & Wastewater Project (Mini-basin 40C1)
January 24, 2020 – KUB’s contractor, Portland Utilities, continued
installing sections of new water main on Boggs Avenue this past week. Crews
will continue work from east to west on Boggs Avenue with daily road closures
in the immediate work zone daily from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. next week. Crews are
also scheduled to start saw-cutting roadway asphalt and installing water main
on the section of Davenport Road between Boggs Avenue and Kingland Avenue next
week. This work will require daily road closures between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Access
to driveways will be maintained. NOTE: The next blog update will be
posted on Monday, February 3.

Old Kingston Pike Wastewater Rehabilitation Project

Beginning the week of January 20, 2020, KUB and its contractor will begin mobilizing equipment and materials for a Century II wastewater collection system rehabilitation project in the Old Kingston Pike area. This project will upgrade approximately 3,300 linear feet of existing wastewater pipeline and 13 manholes in the area. Construction methods include open-cut trenching, pipe-bursting, and lining of existing pipe. Note that a temporary odor will be present in the immediate area in association with the lining process. Due to the location of some sections of pipe and manholes under roadways, temporary lane and/or road closures will be needed in the immediate area(s) where crews are working. Access to driveways will be maintained. Additionally, crews may need to access buried pipes and manholes in off-road easements. Lawn and street restoration will follow once construction is completed and as weather conditions allow. Follow-up notices will be issued as needed for the duration of this project. See attached map.

closures will be needed in the immediate area(s) where crews are working. Access

Farragut Hills Boulevard Natural Gas Project
January
17, 2020 –
Construction notice postcards were mailed to customers in the Farragut Hills
Boulevard area earlier this week. This project is scheduled to begin in early
February, with completion set for late April 2020. Look for weekly updates once
construction begins.
