Depot Avenue Water Line Project

January 12, 2018 Depot Avenue Area Water Main Installation Project Update – KUB contractor Garney Construction has begun installation of the 36-inch water main in the Blackstock Avenue area.

Crews installed approximately 80 feet of pipe starting under the Western Avenue overpass and progressing north this past week. Another 60 feet stretch has been excavated, up to the Heins Street intersection, with plans to install pipe in that location next week.

Crews have also started pre-construction preparations and equipment set up to bore a section of pipe under railroad tracks in the W. Fifth Avenue area. Work in this area is expected to last approximately two months.

No work will be performed on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. The road closure on Blackstock Avenue between the Western Avenue overpass and Hannah Street will remain in place on Monday.

Weather permitting, crews will return to the project Tuesday, January 16.

KUB will post weekly updates on this blog for the duration of the project.
