Depot Avenue Water Line Project

January 19, 2018 UPDATE - Garney Construction crews continued installation of the 36-inch water transmission main along the stretch of Blackstock Avenue between the Heins Street and Hannah Avenue intersections. Including installation of approximately 460 feet of pipe this week, the overall amount of water main installed for the project to date is approximately 540 feet.  As a reminder, due to ongoing excavation and the presence of equipment and materials, this section of Blackstock Avenue will remain closed through January 31 (including weekends). Access to businesses and parking lots will be maintained as crews continue work in this area.

Next week, Garney Construction will continue water main installation up to Hannah Avenue.  Once they have finished all work up to the Hannah Avenue intersection, the road closure will then shift to the section of Blackstock Avenue between Hannah Avenue and Oak Avenue. This section of Blackstock Avenue is expected to remain closed until mid-February. Additional information will follow as crews shift the work zone to this area. Crews will also replace approximately 140 feet of wastewater main and one manhole at the intersection of Blackstock Avenue and Hannah Avenue.

In addition to the work on Blackstock Avenue, the boring subcontractor contractor completed excavation of a large bore pit and related equipment in the area under the north side of the W. Fifth Avenue overpass. Crews are expected to work in this area through March 2018 with no impacts to traffic.

Please see the Construction Update Map for January 19, 2018 on the right hand side of this blog for current work zones and traffic impacts.
