July 26, 2019 – KUB Underground Construction crews have
completed installation of the new water main on the section of Homberg Drive
between Whitaker Drive and progressing south and west to S. Mohican Street.
Crews completed water main replacement on S. Mohican Street. Pending successful
testing of the new water main, crews will shift focus to connecting customer
service lines to the new main on the above-mentioned sections of Homberg Drive
and S. Mohican Street. KUB Customer Support and Underground Construction will
coordinate necessary water service interruptions to minimize impacts as
connections are made. Following the service line connection work, crews will
begin installation of the new water main on the section of Homberg Drive west
of S. Mohican Street next week.

Fountain City Natural Gas Project
July 26, 2019
– Construction progress was temporarily slowed by heavy rains in the region
earlier in the week. Next week, crews will install natural gas main on the
section of Grove Drive between Martha Berry Drive and Mynatt Road. Potholing
work to locate existing underground utilities is scheduled for Mynatt Road and
Grove Drive between Martha Berry Drive east to Colonial Circle.
Holston Hills Natural Gas Project
July 26, 2019 Update – Post construction pipeline cleaning
wrapped up on E. Sunset Road this week. Contractor East Tennessee
Pipeline crews will continue installing natural gas main and making tie-in
connections to existing mains on S. Chilhowee Drive next week. Pending
completion of installation, crews will begin pipeline cleaning work on S.
Chilhowee Drive.
Concord/Painter Avenue Area Wastewater Project
July 26, 2019 Update – Third Creek Greenway Trail Diversion – Wastewater rehabilitation work requiring trail
diversions continues on the section of the Third Creek Greenway just west of S.
Concord Street through July 2019. The Third Creek Greenway remains
open. Trail users are reminded to be aware of the presence of equipment,
vehicles, and workers in the area while this work is completed.

July 26, 2019 UPDATE – Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation – Construction crews will
work in the following areas next week with intermittent daily road closures
between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:

rehabilitate the existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park. See
the attached map showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all
entrances and parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan
Construction is also maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment
and materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of
Knoxville Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills
Association. Informational banners have been placed in the park
entrances/parking areas to provide park visitors with details about the
wastewater rehabilitation work. Updates on the progress of work in the park
will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog site.
Natural Gas System Work – Crews have resumed natural gas
inspection and maintenance work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills.
This work may require short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where
crews are working.

19, 2019 –
Contractor crews are nearing completion of new natural gas main installation
along Martha Berry Drive. Crews will move next to Grove Drive to install a new
main from Martha Berry Drive to Grove Villas Way. Potholing work to locate
existing underground utilities also started on Mynatt Road this week and will
continue on the section of Grove Drive from Martha Berry Drive east to Colonial
Circle. Main installation will continue on Grove Drive next week, starting at
Grove Villas Way and progressing north across Rifle Range Road to 2372 Mynatt
Road.

installed approximately 1,000 feet of new water main on Homberg Drive, starting

are scheduled to work this weekend to install main and connect to the existing

west of S. Mohican Street next week.

Tennessee Pipeline crews sleeved in a new 4-inch natural gas main into the
abandoned 6-inch cast iron pipeline along S. Chilhowee Drive, starting at the
Holston Drive intersection and working south. Crews will install remaining new
pipe on S. Chilhowee Drive, to the E. Sunset Road intersection, next week. Post
construction pipeline cleaning work will continue on East Sunset Drive next
week.

Construction Schedule for KUB Water System Improvements
Homberg
Drive
KUB has revised the construction schedule for work to upgrade the
water distribution system in the Kingston Pike and Homberg Drive area of
Bearden.
Work will begin Tuesday, July 9, on Homberg Drive as opposed to
Kingston Pike as previously announced. Crews will begin construction activities
near the Homberg Drive and Whitaker Drive intersection and move west along
Homberg Drive. There will be temporary lane shifts of Homberg Drive in the
immediate work zone through September 2019. Access to businesses and driveways
will be maintained while crews perform work on Homberg Drive. There will also
be work completed on a short section of S. Mohican Street at Homberg Drive.
Kingston Pike will not be impacted during this timeframe.
This project will replace more than 2,700 feet of aging pipe to
improve reliability for customers and replace fire hydrants in the area.
Appropriate signs and devices will be in place to alert vehicle
traffic to upcoming traffic changes. KUB asks commuters to be mindful of the
presence of construction equipment, materials, vehicles, and workers when
travelling through this area.
