Holston Hills Natural Gas Project
August 9, 2019 Update
– Contractor East
Tennessee Pipeline crews finished up pipeline tie-ins on S. Chilhowee Drive at
W. Sunset Drive, and S. Chilhowee Drive at Holston Drive. Next week, testing
will continue on E. Sunset Drive, and pipeline tie-ins will be made at E.
Sunset Drive and Inglewood Drive.
Sequoyah Hills Area Wastewater Project
August 9, 2019 UPDATE – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week
with intermittent daily road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
- Kenesaw
Avenue between Taliluna Avenue and Cherokee Boulevard
- Navaho
Road between Scenic Drive and South Garden Road
- Bluff
View Road between Holloway Drive and Southgate Road
- Whitlow
Avenue between Lakeland Drive and Bluff View Road
- Kenesaw
Avenue between Woodland Drive and Westerwood Avenue
Crews
will also work on the following roads with intermittent lane closures
between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
- Cherokee
Boulevard between Tugaloo Drive and Kenesaw Avenue (westbound lane closed
during daytime work hours with traffic flow detoured via Tugaloo Drive, Taliluna
Avenue, Kenesaw Avenue, and Southgate Road)
- Eastbound traffic flow on this stretch of Cherokee
Boulevard and Sequoyah Greenway will remain open at all times
- Cherokee
Boulevard between Southgate Road and Kenesaw Avenue (westbound lane closed
during daytime work hours with traffic flow detoured via Kenesaw Avenue,
Taliluna Avenue, and Southgate Road)
- Eastbound traffic flow on this stretch of Cherokee
Boulevard and Sequoyah Greenway will remain open at all times
- Keowee
Avenue between Kenesaw Avenue and Talahi Drive
Crews
will also work in the following off-road easements with no traffic impacts:
- Easement
between Kenesaw Ave and Woodside Street (Wastewater Rehabilitation)
- Easement
between Sequoyah Avenue and Taliluna Avenue (Wastewater Rehabilitation)
- Easement
between Holloway Drive and Whitlow Avenue (Wastewater rehabilitation and
restoration)
- Easement
between Southgate Drive and Bluff View Road (Restoration)
- Easement between Kenesaw Avenue
and Agawela Avenue (Restoration)
- Easement
between Kenesaw Avenue and Woodside Street (Restoration)
- Easement
between Iskagna Drive and Woodland Drive (Restoration)
Closed-circuit
Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next
week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are
present.
Sequoyah
Park –
Morgan Construction and their subcontractors continue to rehabilitate the
existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park. See the attached map
showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and
parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction
is also maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and
materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville
Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association.
Informational banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to
provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work.
Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed
on this blog site.
Natural
Gas System Work – Crews have resumed natural gas inspection and maintenance
work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills. This work may require
short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where crews are working.

Concord/Painter Avenue Area Wastewater Project
August 2, 2019 Update –Third
Creek Greenway Trail Diversion – Wastewater rehabilitation work has been
completed and the Third Creek Greenway trail is open with no diversion.
Restoration crews will be working in the area over the next several weeks, but
this work will not affect the trail.

Holston Hills Natural Gas Project
August 2, 2019 Update –Contractor East Tennessee Pipeline crews
conducted cleaning and pressure testing on the new main installed on S.
Chilhowee Drive. Pending successful testing, crews will fill the pipeline on S.
Chilhowee Drive with natural gas next week. Pressure testing will also take
place on E. Sunset Drive next week.
Fountain City Natural Gas Project
August 2, 2019 – Contractor Classic City Mechanical
installed new natural gas main on Grove Drive, from Martha Berry Drive to
Mynatt Road this week. Crews also conducted potholing work on Mynatt Road and
Grove Drive. Next week, crews will finish potholing work and being installing
the new natural gas main on Grove Drive, starting at Martha Berry Drive and
progressing east to Colonial Circle.
Homberg Drive Water Main Project
August 2, 2019 – KUB Underground Construction crews
continued connecting customer service lines to the new water main on the
section of Homberg Drive between Whitaker Drive and progressing south and west
to S. Mohican Street this past week. Following the service line connection
work, crews will begin installation of the new water main on the section of
Homberg Drive west of S. Mohican Street next week.
