June 7, 2019 UPDATE – Sequoyah
Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week
with intermittent daily road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:

Holloway Drive between
Bluff View Drive and Cedarhill Road (paving and restoration work)
·
Cedearhill Road between
Scenic Drive and Whitlow Avenue (intermittent road closures as needed for
wastewater rehabilitation)
Crews
will also work on the following roads with intermittent lane closures
between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
·
Cherokee Boulevard
between Tugaloo Drive and Kenesaw Avenue (southbound lane closed during daytime
work hours with traffic flow detoured via Tugaloo Drive, Taliluna Avenue, and
Kenesaw Avenue) NOTE: Work on this
section of Cherokee Boulevard is expected to be completed by the middle of next
week.

Northbound traffic
flow on this stretch of Cherokee Boulevard and Sequoyah Greenway will remain
open at all times

Cherokee Boulevard
between Kenesaw Avenue and Southgate Road (westbound lane closed during daytime
work hours with traffic flow detoured via Kenesaw Road, Taliluna Avenue, and
Southgate Road) NOTE: Work will shift
to this section of Cherokee Boulevard once work is completed on the section of
Cherokee Boulevard between Tugaloo Drive and Kenesaw Avenue.

Eastbound traffic flow
on this stretch of Cherokee Boulevard and Sequoyah Greenway will remain open at
all times
Crews
will also work in the following off-road easements with no traffic impacts:

Holloway Drive and Whitlow Avenue (pipe-bursting and manhole replacement)
·
Easement between
Scenic Drive and Holloway Drive (restoration)
Cured-In-Place
(CIPP) Liner Installation – See list below of affected areas (schedule is subject to change
due to weather):

Tuesday, June 11 – Easement between Lakeland Drive and Bluff View Road off of
Whitlow Avenue. (One lane closed on Whitlow Avenue, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
·
Wednesday, June 12 – South Garden Road between Navaho Road and Cherokee Boulevard,
and on Navaho road between Chickasaw Road and South Garden Road. One lane
closed on both roads with flaggers present to alternate traffic flow.
·
Thursday, June 13 – Kenesaw Avenue between Cherokee Boulevard and Taliluna Avenue.
One lane closed on both roads with flaggers present to alternate traffic flow.
·
Friday, June 14 – Short segment in Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church parking lot
with no traffic impacts.
Concrete
Restoration –
Crews will also work on concrete restoration on short sections of the following
roads requiring 24-hour road closures. The 24-hour time frame includes
crews setting up forms, pouring and finishing concrete, time for concrete to
cure overnight, and removal of forms the following day. Access to driveways
will be maintained. Work on these roads will be scheduled so that all roads are
not closed at the same time:

Windgate Street between
Oakhurst Drive and Iskagna Drive
·
W. Nokomis Circle
between Iskagna Drive and E. Nokomis Circle
·
E. Nokomis Circle
between Iskagna Drive and W. Nokomis Circle
·
Iskagna Drive between
Kenesaw Avenue and Woodside Street
Vegetation Management – KUB contract tree pruning
crews will also work off-road easement areas around Bluff View Drive and
Whitlow Avenue the week of June 10. Completion of vegetation work in
coordination with ongoing wastewater work will minimize the need for another
disruption and access to back and side lots in the near future. Temporary lane
closures may be needed in the immediate area where crews are working.
Closed-circuit
Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next
week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are
present.
Sequoyah
Park –
Morgan Construction and their subcontractors continue to rehabilitate the
existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park. See the attached map
showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and
parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction
is also maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and
materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville
Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association.
Informational banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to
provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work.
Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed
on this blog site.
Natural
Gas System Work – Natural gas work has been temporarily suspended in Sequoyah Hills
as crews have been shifted to work on another area on the system.

Hills Area Traffic Impacts [June 10-14] – KUB contract crews will implement the below
indicated traffic control measures during work hours, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m.,
Monday-Friday, June 10-14, as work continues on the wastewater collection
system project in the area:
