September 13, 2019 UPDATE – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week
with intermittent road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:

Taliluna Avenue and Cherokee Boulevard

Bluff View Road
between Southgate Road and Holloway Drive
Crews
will also work on the following roads with intermittent lane closures
between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

between Agawela Avenue and Southgate Road
Crews
will also work in the following off-road easements with minimal traffic
impacts:

Easement between
Agawela Avenue and Kenesaw Avenue in Sequoyah Village Apartments (Restoration)
·
Easement between
Iskagna Drive and Woodland Drive (Restoration)
·
Easement between
Sequoyah Avenue and Taliluna Avenue (Restoration)
Closed-circuit
Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next
week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are
present.
Sequoyah
Park –
Morgan Construction and their subcontractors continue to rehabilitate the
existing wastewater main and manholes in Sequoyah Park. See the attached map
showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and
parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction
is also maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and
materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville
Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association.
Informational banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to
provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work.
Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed
on this blog site.
Natural
Gas System Work – Crews have resumed natural gas inspection and maintenance
work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills. This work may require
short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where crews are working.
(Bearden Area) Kingston Pike Lane
Closures [Overnight, September 16 – Mid October] – KUB
crews will implement lane closures of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of
Kingston Pike between Westwood Drive and Homberg Drive overnight, from 8 p.m. –
6 a.m., beginning Monday, September 16, through mid-October, as work is
performed on the water distribution system in the area. One eastbound and one
westbound lane of traffic will be maintained at all times, with closed lanes
reopening at 6 a.m. each morning. No work will occur overnight Friday and
Saturday night. Flaggers and signs will be onsite to assist with traffic
control.
