Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project Update


January 10, 2020 UPDATE

Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Rehabilitation – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week with intermittent road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
  • Taliluna Avenue between South Garden Road and Lakeland Drive
  • Whitlow Avenue between Bluff View Road and Cedarhill Road
 Closed-circuit Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are present.

Manhole Rehabilitation – Crews will work throughout the Phase 2 area next week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are present.

Sequoyah Park – Break-down of bypass pumping equipment and piping is nearing completion in the park. Cleanup and restoration of excavated areas will continue as weather allows over the next several weeks. See the attached map showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction continues to maintain a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association. Informational banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work. Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog site.

Natural Gas System Work – Crews have resumed natural gas inspection and maintenance work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills. This work may require short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where crews are working.

January 3, 2020 UPDATE – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week with intermittent road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
  • Taliluna Avenue between South Garden Road and Lakeland Drive

Crews will also work in the following off-road easements with minimal traffic impacts:
  • Easements between Lakeland Drive and Taliluna Avenue
  • Easement between Sagwa Drive and Iskagna Drive

Holston Hill Natural Gas Project

January 3, 2020 Update – Contractor East Tennessee Pipeline crews will work in the following areas next week:
  • Customer service line connections to the new natural gas main in the following areas:
    • 1212, 1300 S. Chilhowee Drive
    • 5107, 5109, 5111, 5115, 5119, 5121, 5125, 5129, 5201, 5205, 5206, 5209, 5210, 5212, 5213, 5300 Green Valley Drive
    • 5111, 5115 Wyndcroft Drive

Fountain City Natural Gas Project

January 3, 2020 – Contractor Classic City Mechanical will work in the following areas next week:
  • Connecting sections of natural gas mains at:
    • Grove Drive and Tansy Lane
    • Grove Drive and Belcourt Drive
    • Grove Drive and Edonia Drive
    • Ridgewood Road and Poplar Place
    • Ridgewood Rod and Oak Drive
  • Customer service line connections to the new natural gas mains in the following areas:
    • 6024, 5917, 5909, 5841, 5812, 5800, 5760 Grove Drive
    • 2013 Pruden Drive
    • 2900-2922 Edonia Drive

Old Kingston Pike Water Main Project

January 3, 2020 – KUB Underground Construction crews have completed the installation of all new water mains and customer service line connections along Old Kingston Pike, Staub St and S. Forest Park Blvd. No work will be performed in this area until early January 2020. To minimize future disruptions in this area, KUB will follow the water main project with wastewater collection system upgrades in this same area starting in January 2020. Affected customers will be notified prior to the start of wastewater construction. Final overall paving and restoration will take place at the conclusion of the wastewater project.

Holston-Chilhowee Area Wastewater Project (Mini-Basin 20A3)

January 3, 2020 – As a follow-up to construction notices that were mailed to area customers recently, the start for this project has been shifted to early- to mid-January 2020. Continue to follow this blog for weekly updates once construction begins.
