West Hills Natural Gas Project
March 30, 2018 UPDATE – KUB Underground construction crews continued work on Bathurst Road and the 7900, 8000, and 8400-blocks of Corteland Drive, Carrington Drive, and the 900-block of Marlboro Road this past week. Crews will work in the 7900-8000 Corteland Drive, 700-900 Marlboro Road, and 800-900 Carrington Drive areas next week.
Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project
March 30, 2018 UPDATE – Hurst Excavating subcontractor crews continued to rehabilitate wastewater pipes, customer lines, and manholes in sections of Southgate Road (between Sequoyah Avenue and Wilani Road) and Sequoyah Avenue (between Agawela Avenue and Beacon Hill Lane). Crews rehabilitated a total of 561 feet of wastewater main, connected seven customer service laterals, and set one manhole in this area. Restoration work also continued in the off-road easements along back and side property lines between Scenic Drive and Valencia Road (parallel to Alta Vista Way). Work Zone Shift Update: Paving and restoration crews will continue work on the streets mentioned above through April 6, and pipe installation crews will begin work on the section of Southgate Road between Taliluna Avenue and Cherokee Boulevard. Crews will also work on the section of Wilani Road between Southgate Road and Taliluna Avenue. These sections of Southgate Road and Taliluna Avenue will be closed to through traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. through April 27. Access will be maintained to driveways in these areas, and all roads will reopen to traffic outside of work hours. Crews will also work to rehabilitate sections of wastewater main and manholes in off-road back and side property easements in the area south of Kingston Park Drive next week. No work will be performed on Cherokee Boulevard through the end of April, while the Dogwood Arts Festival Trails and Gardens are open. See attached map for current work zones.
Depot Avenue Water Line Project
March 30, 2018 UPDATE – Garney Construction pipe installation crews shifted work zones to the section of W. Fifth Avenue between Cooper Street and N. Broadway. This section of road will remain closed through mid-April as a 12-inch main is installed in the area. The contractor also closed a two-block section of Morgan Street between E. Depot Avenue and E. Jackson Avenue to set up boring equipment for pipe installation under railroad tracks in this area. This section of Morgan Street will be closed through the end of April 2018. Paving crews finished restoration work on Van Street and the area under the W. Fifth Avenue bridge where crews crossed Second Creek with a section of 36-inch main. Boring crews continued to work on installation of sections of pipe under the railroad tracks in this same area beneath the bridge. Crews will continue to work on W. Fifth Avenue next week, progressing toward the N. Broadway intersection. KUB and Garney Construction will communicate details related to the intersection closure in advance.
S. Knox Natural Gas Project
March 30, 2018 UPDATE – Pipeline installation continues in the off-road areas between Henry Haynes Road and Tipton Station Road. No long-term road closures are scheduled for next week; however, there may be temporary traffic delays on area roads as trucks with trailers transport large sections of pipe from the contractor laydown area at Mountain Grove Road to the project right-of-way. KUB will communicate as details are finalized in advance of all remaining road closures.

S. Knox Natural Gas Project
March 28, 2018 UPDATE – Contract crews will return tomorrow to perform temporary roadway restoration, including backfilling and temporary paving at 124 Henry Haynes Road. Henry Haynes Road will be closed as indicated below for the restoration work.
In the coming weeks, the contractor will return to this area to complete work, and notices will be issued prior to the work occurring. When all work is completed, permanent roadway restoration work will be performed. Work on other parts of the project will continue as scheduled.
(South Knoxville) Road Closure – Henry Haynes Road [March 29] – KUB contract crews will implement a closure of a short section of Henry Haynes Road between Chapman Highway and Babs Road from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., on Thursday, March 29, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. Alternate routes include W. Marine Road, Babs Road, and Tipton Station Road, and local traffic access will be maintained. Appropriate signage and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.

Depot Avenue Water Line Project
March 23, 2018 UPDATE – Garney Construction crews completed installation of the 36-inch water main across Second Creek, beneath the W. Fifth Avenue bridge, this week. Crews also continued to work on the bore to install sections of pipe under the railroad tracks in this same area beneath the bridge. Pipe installation has been completed on Van Street; however, a short section of road will remain closed through the middle of next week for roadway restoration. KUB work zones in this area will not interfere with the Knoxville Marathon this weekend. Work Zone Shift Update: Next week, crews will close the section of W. Fifth Avenue between Cooper Street and N. Broadway to through traffic for prep work and installation of a section of 12-inch water main. This section of W. Fifth Avenue will remain closed through mid-April. Crews will also close a two-block section of Morgan Street between E. Depot Avenue and E. All sections of roads mentioned will be closed to through traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Access will be maintained to driveways in these areas, and all roads will reopen to traffic outside of work hours. Crews will also work to rehabilitate sections of wastewater main and manholes in off-road back and side property easements in the area between Blows Ferry Road and the Tennessee River next week. KUB work zones in the Sequoyah Hills area will not interfere with the Knoxville Marathon this weekend. See attached map for current work zones.
