Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project

March 23, 2018 UPDATE – Hurst Excavating subcontractor crews continued to rehabilitate wastewater pipes, customer lines, and manholes in sections of Southgate Road (between Sequoyah Avenue and Wilani Road) and Sequoyah Avenue (between Agawela Avenue and Beacon Hill Lane). Crews rehabilitated a total of 475 feet of wastewater main, connected eight customer service laterals, and set two manholes in this area. Restoration work also continued in the off-road easements along back and side property lines between Scenic Drive and Valencia Road (parallel to Alta Vista Way). Work Zone Shift Update: In addition to continuing work on the streets mentioned above, crews will also begin work on a short section of Taliluna Avenue, just west of the Southgate Road intersection. All sections of roads mentioned will be closed to through traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Access will be maintained to driveways in these areas, and all roads will reopen to traffic outside of work hours. Crews will also work to rehabilitate sections of wastewater main and manholes in off-road back and side property easements in the area between Blows Ferry Road and the Tennessee River next week. KUB work zones in the Sequoyah Hills area will not interfere with the Knoxville Marathon this weekend. See attached map for current work zones.

(Sequoyah Hills) Sequoyah Hills Area Road Closures [March 26 – April 13] – KUB contract crews will implement a closure of the below sections of roadways in Sequoyah Hills from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, Monday-Friday, starting Monday, March 26, through Friday, April 13, as work continues on the wastewater collection system in the area:


  • Southgate Road between Sequoyah Avenue and Wilani Road
  • Sequoya Avenue between Beacon Hill Lane and Agawela Avenue



Alternate routes include Keowee Avenue, Agawela Avenue, Cherokee Boulevard, Lakeland Drive, and Taliluna Avenue, with local traffic access only maintained for residents. The roadway will be reopened after hours and on weekends. Appropriate signage and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
