Depot Avenue Water Line Project

February 2, 2018 Depot Avenue Area Water Main Installation Project Update – KUB contractor Garney Construction completed rehabilitation of a short section of wastewater main in the Hannah Avenue/Ramsey Street/Blackstock Avenue intersection this week. This section of roadway will remain closed for paving and sidewalk restoration through the middle of next week.

Garney crews will continue installation of the 36-inch main next week, progressing north toward Oak Avenue. As the work zone progresses, crews will implement a road closure on the section of Blackstock Avenue between Oak Street and Van Street, possibly by the end of next week. Crews and equipment are expected to remain in this area through mid-February, weather permitting.

Crews also continued activity to bore a section of pipe under railroad tracks in the W. Fifth Avenue area. Work in this area is expected to last approximately two months.

KUB will post weekly updates on this blog for the duration of the project.

(North Knoxville) Blackstock Avenue Road Closure [Updated, February 5-16] – KUB contract crews will continue water distribution system work on Blackstock Avenue and shift the traffic control east as the project progresses:
  • February 5-8 - Blackstock Avenue closed continuously between Hannah Avenue and Oak Avenue. The intersection of Hannah Avenue and Blackstock Avenue will be paved midweek, and then reopened.
  • February 8-16 – Blackstock Avenue closed continuously between Oak Avenue and Van Street
Alternate routes include Western Avenue, Broadway, and Oak Avenue. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control.
