March 16, 2018 UPDATE – Hurst Excavating subcontractor crews continued to rehabilitate wastewater pipes, customer lines, and manholes in the section of Southgate Drive between Sagwa Drive and Sequoyah Avenue and along Keowee Avenue (between Agawela Avenue and Southgate Road). Crews rehabilitated a total of 405 feet of wastewater main, connected eight customer service laterals, and set three manholes in this area. Restoration work also continued in the off-road easements along back and side property lines between Scenic Drive and Valencia Road (parallel to Alta Vista Way).
Work Zone Shift Update: Next week, crews will continue moving south, setting up construction and road closure zones on Southgate Road (between Sequoyah Avenue and Wilani Road), and along Sequoyah Avenue (between Agawela Avenue and Beacon Hill Lane). These sections of Southgate Road and Sequoyah Avenue will be closed to through traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Access will be maintained to driveways in these areas, and both roads will reopen to traffic outside of work hours. Crews will also work to rehabilitate sections of wastewater main and manholes in off-road back and side property easements in the Kingston Park Drive and Towanda Trail areas. The following traffic advisory is not related to this project, but is for pole replacement on Kingston Pike:
(West Knoxville) Kingston Pike Lane Closure [March 19] – KUB crews will close a short section of the curbside, westbound lane of Kingston Pike between Cherokee Boulevard and E. Hillvale Turn from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, March 19, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. One westbound lane and both eastbound lanes will remain open during this time. Access to local driveways will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control.
