May 18, 2018 UPDATE – Garney Construction and
subcontractor crews continued tying customer service lines over to the
newly-installed eight-inch water main along Williams Street between W. Fifth
Avenue and Hudson Alley this week. This section of Williams Street will remain
closed through early next week for paving and restoration. Crews also completed
connecting the new eight-inch line to the existing water line at the W. Fifth
Avenue and N. Gay Street intersection. The intersection will remain closed on
Monday, May 21, for paving. Once paving is completed at this location, crews
will reopen the N. Gay Street intersection to traffic. Crews will then close W.
Fifth Avenue between Cooper Street and N. Broadway. Beginning at 3 p.m.,
Monday, May 21, and lasting overnight, contractor crews will close the W. Fifth
Avenue at N. Broadway intersection to complete two eight-inch main connections.
The intersection will remain closed through the end of the week for paving and
restoration. Traffic flow will be shifted to the N. Gay Street intersection
while the N. Broadway intersection is closed. No work will be performed, and
all lanes and roads will be reopened, over the Memorial Day holiday.
