Old Kingston Pike Water Main Project

December 13, 2019 – KUB Underground Construction crews have completed the installation of all new water mains and customer service line connections along Old Kingston Pike, Staub St and S. Forest Park Blvd. Asphalt patching and restoration crews will continue to work in the area through next week. Road closures and lane shifts will continue in this area as needed. To minimize future disruptions in this area, KUB will follow the water main project with wastewater collection system upgrades in this same area starting in January 2020. Affected customers will be notified prior to the start of wastewater construction. Final overall paving and restoration will take place at the conclusion of the wastewater project.


Fountain City Natural Gas Project

December 13, 2019 – Contractor Classic City Mechanical will work in the following areas next week:
  • Potholing to located existing buried utility lines and boring in new sections of natural gas main in the following areas:
    • Ridgewood Road from Oak Road to N. Broadway
    • 5501-5524 Peyton Place
  • Connecting sections of natural gas mains at:
    • Grove Park and Brabson Drive
    • Grove Park and Walkup Drive
    • 2901 Brabson Drive
    • Edonia Drive and Weems road
    • Edonia Drive and Gresham Road
    • Edonia Drive and Van Horn Road
    • Edonia Drive and Ridgewood Road
  • Customer service line connections to the new natural gas main in the following areas:
    • 5760-5909 Grove Drive
    • 2900-2905 Edonia Drive
    • 1910 & 1911 Martha Berry Drive

Holston Hills Natural Gas Project

December 13, 2019 Update –Contractor East Tennessee Pipeline crews will work in the following areas next week:
  • Potholing to located existing buried utility lines and boring in new sections of natural gas main between 4701 and 4905 Westover Terrace and on Shady Lane between Shady Dell Trail and Westover Terrace
  • Customer service line connections to the new natural gas main in the following areas:
    • 5612, 5615, 5616, 5617 Crestwood Drive
    • 5317, 5320, 5321, 5325 Shady Dell Trail

Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project


December 6, 2019 UPDATE – Construction crews will work in the following areas next week with intermittent road closures between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.:
  • Taliluna Avenue between South Garden Road and Lakeland Drive
  • Whitlow Avenue between Bluff View Road and Cedarhill Road
Crews will also work in the following off-road easements with minimal traffic impacts:
  • Easements between Lakeland Drive and Taliluna Avenue
Closed-circuit Television Inspection – Crews will continue to work throughout the Phase 2 area next week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are present.

Manhole Rehabilitation – Crews will work throughout the Phase 2 area next week. Temporary lane closures will be implemented as needed when crews are present.

Sequoyah Park – Morgan Construction and their subcontractors will begin to break down the bypass pumping equipment and piping in the park next week. Cleanup and restoration of excavated areas will also begin next week. See the attached map showing current work corridors within the park. The park, all entrances and parking areas, and boat ramp remain open during this work. Morgan Construction is also maintaining a fenced area in the middle parking lot for equipment and materials storage. KUB has coordinated work in the park with City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation and the Kingston Pike Sequoyah Hills Association. Informational banners have been placed in the park entrances/parking areas to provide park visitors with details about the wastewater rehabilitation work. Updates on the progress of work in the park will be posted weekly and as needed on this blog site.

Natural Gas System Work – Crews have resumed natural gas inspection and maintenance work at various locations throughout Sequoyah Hills. This work may require short term traffic impacts in the immediate area where crews are working.

Old Kingston Pike Water Main Project


December 6, 2019 – KUB Underground Construction crews have completed the installation of all new water mains along Old Kingston Pike, Staub St and S. Forest Park Blvd. Crews completed service connections along S. Forest Park Boulevard this past week, and work will continue on customer service lines and fire hydrant connections along Old Kingston Pike in the coming days. Road closures and lane shifts will continue in this area as crews dig to connect customer service lines to the new main and roadway asphalt patching follows. All construction associated with the water lines is scheduled for completion prior to the upcoming holidays. To minimize future disruptions in this area, KUB will follow the water main project with wastewater collection system upgrades in this same area starting in early January. Affected customers will be notified prior to the start of wastewater construction. Final paving and restoration will take place at the conclusion of the wastewater project.
