Sequoyah Hills Wastewater Project

June 14, 2018 UPDATE – Hurst Excavating and its subcontractor pipe-bursting crews worked along Calumet Drive and in the off-road easements between Calumet Drive and Blows Ferry Road. Work will continue in this area next week. Crews are also scheduled to begin construction activities on Wilani Road next week. Wilani Road will be closed to through traffic daily between Taliluna Avenue and Southgate Road in association with this work. Off-road easement restoration work will continue near Towanda Trail/Noelton Drive and Shawnee Lane through next week, and driveway/paving restoration work is scheduled for the south end of Mellen Avenue and Valencia Road.


TRAFFIC ADVISORY

(West Knoxville) Kingston Pike Lane Closure [June 15] – KUB crews will close a short section of the curbside, westbound lane of Kingston Pike between Oakhurst Drive and Scenic Drive from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, June 15, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the in the area. One westbound lane and both eastbound lanes will remain open during this time. Access to local business will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. 


(Sequoyah Hills Area) Sequoyah Hills Area Road Closures [June 18 – July 6] – KUB contract crews will implement the below road closures as work continues on the wastewater collections system in the area:
  • Wilani Road between Taliluna Avenue and Southgate Road. Closed from 7 a.m., Monday, June 18, through 5 p.m., Friday, July 6. Local driveway access maintained.
  • Blows Ferry Drive between Calumet Drive and Alta Vista Way. Daily from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, starting Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22.
Alternate routes include Southgate Road, South Garden Road, Scenic Drive, Agawela Avenue, and Sequoyah Avenue. Appropriate signage and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control, and local traffic access will be maintained to area homes and businesses. No work will occur on Wednesday, July 4. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary.
