Weekly Update: Garney Construction crews
finished testing the newly-installed 8-inch water line on W. Depot Avenue
between Williams Street and N. Central Street this week. Crews will continue
work on this section of W. Depot Avenue with tie-ins and the start of
installation on the 36-inch main next week. A second crew also began
installation of an 8-inch main on E. Depot Avenue, between N. Central Street
and Morgan Street this week. Paving and restoration work will take place
following installation of the 8- and 36-inch water lines. Crews are expected to
close the Depot Avenue at N. Central Street intersection by mid-August.
Additional information regarding the scope and duration of work in that area
will be communicated as plans are finalized. The closure of both westbound
lanes of E. Summit Hill Drive at Patton Street has been extended through 5 p.m.,
Friday, August 10. Westbound traffic will be detoured to Hill Avenue, Howard
Baker Jr. Boulevard, and Hall of Fame Drive, and other alternate routes include
Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, McCalla Avenue, E. Jackson Avenue, and N.
Central Street.

Summit Hill Drive Lane Closure [Extended, August 3-10] – KUB contract crews will maintain a closure of both westbound
lanes of E. Summit Hill drive at Patton Street from 5 p.m., Friday, August 3,
through 5 p.m.,
Friday, August 10, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the
area. Westbound traffic will be detoured to Hill Avenue, Howard Baker Jr.
Boulevard, and Hall of Fame Drive, and other alternate routes include Martin
Luther King, Jr. Avenue, McCalla Avenue, E. Jackson Avenue, and N. Central
Street. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs
will be on site to assist with traffic control. Electronic message boards also
will be posted near the Summit Hill Drive/State Street intersection and on
Dandridge Avenue to alert motorists of the traffic pattern change.
